Assignment 7: Hatching/Cross Hatching of Pine Cone
Project 1: Gyotoku Fish
I used a mix of warm and cool colors for my fish. These colors make me feel happy. I chose these colors because I thought that they looked good together. To make this print I used water colors to paint a rubber fish and then pressed the painted rubber fish onto a piece of rice paper. Using rice paste I painted the back of my print in order to wet mount it onto a wooden board and left it to dry for twenty four hours. Once the print was finished drying I cut it off of its wet mount and began to modify it. Using water color pencils I added more detail in the eyes, mouth, and tail. I also added more detail to the areas where the scales did not print off as well. My feelings about the project grew more positive as I was nearing the end because I liked being able to see it slowly progress. I feel like this project turned out well and I am pleased with my elements. Something different about this piece was it was self directed. I enjoyed being able to make the decisions for myself and I think that I did well with it. By modifying the print I was able to turn the printed fish into more of my own and I enjoyed being able to do that.
Assignment 8: color wheel
The color wheels contains a series of different colors. These colors are classified as primary, secondary, complementary, analogous, and intermediate. It also contains warm and cool colors. Warm colors contain oranges and reds. Cool colors contain greens and blues. Primary colors are red, blue, and yellow. Secondary colors are green, orange, and purple. Complementary colors are opposite of each other on the wheel. Analogous colors are three colors that sit next to each other on the wheel and one of the three would be a dominant color. Intermediate colors are created when primary and secondary colors are mixed together. When there is a triad there would be three colors on the wheel that are equally spaced apart. The primary colors are a triad as well as the secondary colors.
This trip opened my eyes to many different forms of art. Touring ECU was a very exciting experience. My favorite section was the shape lab. I liked it because it had a lot of very modern technology that I found quite intriguing.
